Thinking of "firsts"

Dear reader of my blog,

Thank you for being here reading this because it means that you also visited my website and I am truly honored that you did.  I know there is a lot of competition out there.  I just Googled how many websites there actually are and discovered it is more than 644 million, so now I am truly honored.

I am also privileged to have your attention because not only is this my first ever website it is also my first ever blog and honestly that alone is quite daunting.  I am of a mind that I need to say something profound.  Oh dear, this is getting scary.  Doing something for the first time is always a leap of sorts…we are never quite certain about the landing even when we hit the ground with both feet firmly planted. The tendency is to look around for the assurances that we are OK, just as kids do.

It is amazing how many “first times” one experiences in life.  First day of kindergarten is the classic ‘first time” memorable experience, or at least the one that is recorded by someone.  First dates are frequently memorable too.  I shared with a friend recently that my first real date included going to a movie, and the film was Zulu - way too National Geographic for me at the tender age of 15.

And now I am discovering that adding a website to my list of “firsts” is no less scary than other new ventures in life.  I am putting myself  “out there” being vulnerable – wow, now I am really working myself into a bit of a state!  What are people going to say?

Actually, I just flipped back to my website and remind myself of the Thoreau quote I posted there:  “Be yourself, not your idea of what you think somebody else’s idea of yourself should be” And so I am here… saying “hello” and taking Mr. Thoreau at his word.

Welcome to my website and to my blog…  I hope to see you again soon in the days and weeks to come as I delve further into how we can begin to see our selves in a new light that will enable better outcomes in daily living.

All good wishes for a wonderful day,

Kathleen
